ELLA LEIGH'S TWO MONTH CHECK UP

Ella Leigh had her two month check up on Monday, June 22, 2009.
Nona took Ella Leigh for her check up. It was a very hot and humid day in Memphis. It did not seem to bother Ella Leigh, because Nona cooled off the car first and popped her car seat in the back of Nona's Sequoia and off we went! It was about a 25 -30 minute trip to Dr. Pendegrass' office in East Memphis.
One of the nurses weighed Ella Leigh and got her height. She weighed 11 lbs. 12 ounces, and she was 22 inches long. Dr. Pendegrass was very pleased with her weight and height. He said she was thriving well. He examed her and found her to be "extremely alert". He told Nona that she was holding her neck and head up well, and marking milestones ahead of her physical age.
He had her grasp his hands and she held tight and began to rise on her two feet. He was very pleased to see the strength she had. In fact, at this point, she wants you to sit her up all the time or let her stand up holding both of your hands. She is very inquisitive!
He explained the immunizations that she would be receiving at this 2 month check up. He and Nona talked for a while while he observed Ella Leigh. Ella Leigh seemed to really like Dr. Pendegrass.
His nurse came in the room and gave Ella Leigh her 3 injections and the oral polio vaccine. She cried and fussed for about a minute. After Nona comforted her, we were ready to go.
What a blessing from God to have such a wonderful and healthy little girl. We thank God for her and all the joy she has brought to all of us.

Momma, Daddy, myself, Nona, Aunt Tina, and Pop and attended the Brown Reunion at the Jamie Whitten Stennis Center on the Tombigbee Waterway in Fulton, MS. I got a gift for being the youngest of the Brown descendants. And, boy, there are a lot of them!
I hope I got their genes.
My great- great-grandmother, Pearl Brown Earnest, Pop's mother, and my Nona's grandmother, and my Momma's great-grandmother lived to
be 5 months shy of 100 years old!!! She had seven sisters and ONE brother! One of the sister's name was ELLA! She lived to be 2 weeks shy of 102!!! We all enjoyed seeing our many relatives and maybe we can do it again when I get a little older, then I can meet everyone! I love you Pop, and I''m very happy to be part of the BROWN family.

MOTHER'S DAY

The weekend began with Ella Leigh arriving about 7 p.m. on Friday, May 8. We all introduced her to Tip Top. Then, Nona got the joy of rocking her in the family room while her Momma and Daddy unpacked ALL their things, 3 dogs, pressure washer to clean swimming pool, baby bags, Momma and Daddy's bags, and Mollie's(the miniature Yorkie's) big crate that she sleeps in. They came very prepared. We had dinner, and Aunt Katie arrived about 9 p.m. after her 12 hour shift at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Aunt Katie immediately got her hands on Miss Ella Leigh. PaPaw was in Europe; therefore he missed it all. In fact, "Where is Waldo(I mean PaPaw)? We had not gotten a phone call from him yet; therefore we wondered "Where in the World is PaPaw," Ha!

After visiting with each other we turned in for the night. Saturday was a very busy day. Phillip, my Daddy, pumped all the water out of the swimming pool and pressure washed it. Thank you, Daddy! You did a GREAT job.

About noon on Saturday, Momma and Aunt Katie took me to meet my cousin, Trace Chism. He wanted to hold me, and I know that he loved me very much! I know that Trace and I have many great memories to make in the future. I love you Trace!

We had many wonderful visitors that day. Some of my Momma's BEST friends, Virginia, Nikki, and Ellen came to Tip Top to see me. It was fun, because they held me and loved on me all day!

Daddy cooked crawfish. I don't know about those big red mud bugs! Momma, Daddy, and Aunt Katie really like them. Nona and I, not so much. I bet Momma and Daddy will have me eating them when I'm a little bit older! I've really got to think about the situation: big red funny looking bugs crawling in a bag, throwing them in boiling water with corn, garlic, etc. After they cook, Daddy puts them out on newspaper on this big long table, and you should see how everyone "goes at em'"! I've really got to talk to Momma and Daddy about eating MUD BUGS!
On Sunday, Pop, my Great Grandfather came to visit all of us in New Albany. There is a picture of me, Momma, Nona, and Pop. FOUR GENERATIONS!!!

MY MOMMA, DADDDY, AND ME

MY AUNT KATIE LOVES ME VERY MUCH!

NONA LOVES ELLA LEIGH SO MUCH

A grandchild is something that only a grandparent can understand. They are so very special.
They come at a time in your life when you appreciate life so much more, and the "little things" mean so much more in life. They are truly a RAY OF SUNSHINE in your life.
Grandchild's Hand
Author: unknown

The promise of tomorrow And the hope of dreams come true...
A reminder of the childhood That's still a part of you...
The wonder of a miracle
From which this love began...
There is so much found in the touch
Of holding a grandchild's hand.
Ella Leigh, I love you so very much.
I feel blessed that I am going to be able to keep you so much and be a big part of your life.
I pray that God will bless you and keep you healthy and happy

OUR LITTLE BLESSING

Phillip and I have been in awe of Ella Leigh since the day she was born.  God's gift of a precious baby is the most wonderful event you will ever experience.  We had been anticipating Ella Leigh's arrival by preparing the nursery, feeling her kick, and watching her move across my belly; yet, the moment you see that precious little face, you are amazed!  Our awesome God has created this beautiful child and blessed us as her parents.  We stand in awe of God's creations.  May God give us the wisdom and patience to raise Ella Leigh in his likeness.  May we set examples for her each day that help her grow spiritually, emotionally, and physically.  We are so excited about our new life as a family of three!  We don't take this step lightly, but responsibly and with God's help may we be the parents that he wants us to be.  We pray that God blesses you and your family.

Blessings

Blessings come in many shapes,
In sizes large and small,
But a brand new little baby
is the sweetest of them all.

Ella Leigh's 2 week Check-Up

Yesterday, Ella Leigh had her 2 week check-up with Dr.Landon B. Pendegrass.  We were so blessed that Dr. Pendegrass said she looked very healthy.  We realize that a healthy child is a blessing from God.
Ella Leigh had weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. at birth, and yesterday she weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz.  So, it certainly seems that Momma's milk is agreeing with her!  She seemed very relaxed at her check-up, although she doesn't like to take her clothes on and off.  Dr. Pendegrass said her reflexes were great, and she seemed very alert and healthy.  Praise God.
We feel very comfortable with the Pediatric Consultants, Inc. of Memphis, TN.

GOOD HEALTH STARTS AT HOME
parents are a child’s best role models. So, the best place for kids to learn healthy habits is at home. Each day, you can do little things that can affect your child’s health in a big way.
